Broccoli Side Korean Style

브로콜리 무침: Broccoli Mu chim

This is a regular at ours because it's quick, tasty and healthy! Goes with any meal, especially meat or fish mains. Plus can be served warm or cold.

What you need:

Broccoli - 1 head

Salt - 1/2 tsp (or to taste)

Sesame Oil - 1 tsp (or to taste)

Sesame Seeds - 1 generous tsp (or to taste)

Cooking tools: Steamer or Pot to blanch/flash boil broccoli

What to do:

Wash and chop up broccoli: Cut off stalk and remove outer skin. The fibrous parts on the outside aren't pleasant to eat! Thinly slice the stalk. Cut the florets into bite size pieces.

If steaming: Fill the pot with an inch of water, put the broccoli into the steamer. Pop it on the hob on high heat. Cover with lid and let steam for about 5 min.

If blanching/flash boiling: Fill the pot with enough water to cover the broccoli. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, add the broccoli and let boil for a few minutes uncovered. Drain

Broccoli is done when they are bright green in colour, the florets are a bit flexible and the stalks are soft with a bit of bite.

Transfer the broccoli to a big bowl and season when warm. Add salt, sesame seed oil and toasted sesame seeds to taste.

This can be served warm, cold or at room temperature.

Quick and easy side to any meal.

You're welcome!

Enjoy!
